Wooden parasols, in comparison to metal parasols, are more sustainable in terms of long life cycle and cleaner production processes.
Specific for the Tradewinds parasols:
The wood is from eucalyptus karri hardwood trees, originating from well-managed plantations in South-Africa. Well-managed plantations in the right places help preserve biodiversity, protect natural forests and meet human needs while contributing to sustainable economic growth and local livelihoods.
This timber is dried in an eco-friendly kiln, reducing the drying time by more than half.
Waste of timber is reduced and given a new purpose:
The wood pulp from production is used to heat the kiln.
Finger jointing is used to recover some of the planks which otherwise can’t be used
Cut-offs can be used in other products.
We focus on a long life cycle of the wooden product. Brands On has a maintenance and service department especially for parasols with a view to prolonging the lifespan of the products.
